How to work toward becoming a Proverbs 31 woman when you're 6.
by Mrs_Kristi on

This week, I felt led to pray for, Charis Campbell, one of our young disciples.  Charis (who is named after the Greek word for Grace) is a really special little girl with a very firm sense of justice.  When we're playing any kind of game or looking for Biblical insight, we know that we can look to Charis to give us the answer.  As I was praying for her, I felt led to Proverbs 31, which is intimidating for me at 36, much less a 6 year old, but I knew that the Holy Spirit is gentle, so I spent some time with her on Sunday and we prayed over it together.  I told her that I felt a special sense of purpose for her life and that I knew God was calling her to do mighty works for his kingdom.  We opened up her Bible and I showed her verses 8 and 9 and I talked about how her natural talents of seeing the world in black & white lend themselves so well to this calling.  So then we discussed the things on which we needed to work, specifically trying new things with a positive attitude.

A servant's heart.
by Mr_Tim on

Each week in the Sprouts during the Sunday School class, I try to find little jobs for the little members of our ministry.  Picking up the bugs (if you don't know, ask a kid), setting up for a game, or setting out the chairs around the snack table.  Over the last couple weeks I have not had to ask anyone about that last job.  That is because before I know it, Luke, one of our youngest in the class, who is barely the same size as one of the chairs, has unpacked them from the stack and placed them all around the table.  This is without prompting, without promise of reward, and without complaint,  just a sense of accomplishment and service to his class.  I am sure he learned this from his dad, who serves within various age groups in the Children's Ministry.  Luke is an example we all can learn from when it comes to the attitude Jesus would like us to have in our service to Him.
